Determination of the coefficients of friction
Our laboratory has just installed a system for measuring the coefficient of friction to meet the international standard ISO 8295.
Read more...Our R&D team is developping an instrument for the measurement of the Coulomb’s modulus of single fibers.
Based on the idea of the torsion pendulum, the prototype helped to recover the Coulom’s modulus values of single glass fiber (27.6 GPa in theory, 27 ± 2 GPa in practice) & single carbon fiber (69 GPa in theory, 69 ± 2 GPa in practice).
Test are in progress on natural fibers(flax, alfa, ramie…). Considering the needs in this research area (low reproductibility, less interest for the Young’s modulus compared to the Coulomb’s modulus…), Matériau Ingénierie will soon publish a full article on this topic.
